ARK Invest founder Cathie Wood addressed market volatility and election results in her latest "In The Know" update, arguing that the AI revolution will not be derailed by political shifts. Wood noted that equity markets began discounting a prolonged Iran conflict and potential Democratic gains in May and June as rising oil and gasoline prices intensified consumer affordability pressures. However, she pointed out that congressional results leaned more conservative than headlines suggested, driven by "pocketbook voters."
Wood emphasized that AI-driven productivity gains are accelerating and will translate into higher compensation, stronger margins, increased investment, and lower prices—ultimately helping to reverse affordability challenges. She expects data center developers to become more responsive to local community concerns by highlighting benefits such as job creation, commercial development, and funding for schools and infrastructure. Despite understandable market uncertainty, ARK maintains that the economy is on a stronger growth trajectory than most investors recognize.
The update also honored John Nosta, a longtime ARK collaborator who passed away this week. Nosta had recently published "The Borrowed Mind: Reclaiming Human Thought in the Age of AI."
