Paraguayan authorities dismantled two illegal Bitcoin mining farms in the Alto Paraná department, seizing a total of 35 mining devices in coordinated operations targeting unauthorized electricity use. The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) confiscated 10 ASIC miners and imposed a fine of approximately $30,000 after discovering an illegal power connection in Minga Guazú on September 17, while police seized 25 additional devices in Ciudad del Este on September 12 following noise complaints.
The operations were conducted jointly by ANDE, the National Police, and the Public Prosecutor's Office to address illegal electricity consumption. Concurrently, the Chamber of Deputies has mandated ANDE to submit a report within 15 working days detailing crypto mining electricity consumption, tariff systems, and regulatory status to assess the sector's impact on grid stability and the national economy.
