XRP is the native token of the XRP Ledger, a public blockchain launched in 2012 for fast, low-cost payment settlement. Network fees are burned rather than paid to validators. Ripple holds a large share of supply in on-ledger escrow that releases monthly.

XRP closed Sunday 6 September 2026 at 1.4235 on Phemex spot, up 0.78% on the session, up 4.84% over seven sessions and up 39.42% over thirty. Over 365 sessions it's down 49.33%, from 2.8091 on Saturday 6 September 2025.
Those four windows disagree, and the disagreement is the setup. Our July forecast page framed $1.00 as the line that mattered. Between Tuesday 30 June and the anchor, exactly two closes broke it.
What Is XRP?
XRP is a payment-settlement asset rather than a smart-contract platform token. Transactions finalise in a few seconds, fees cost fractions of a cent, and the ledger has run since 2012.
If you want the full entity explainer, our XRP and Ripple guide covers the company, the ledger and the token separately, because conflating the three is where most XRP arguments go wrong.
Supply shapes every forecast on this asset. CoinGecko put circulating supply at 62,744,504,852 on Monday 7 September 2026 against a 100 billion maximum.
The rippled validated ledger 106,817,459, read at 06:34 UTC the same day, reports total coins of 99,985,619,322. That number only falls, because burned fees never come back.
Where Is XRP Trading After the Sunday 6 September Close?
The Sunday bar opened at 1.4123, ranged 1.4011 to 1.4321 and closed at 1.4235 on 15,473,947 XRP of Phemex spot volume, or about $21.9 million in turnover. That's 0.58x the average of the prior thirty bars.
Two feeds agree on the close. Phemex spot prints 1.4235 and CoinGecko's dated history call returns 1.4226487, a spread of −0.06%. When two independent feeds land that close together, the number is the number.
Volume is the softer half of the picture. CoinGecko's dated daily series puts Sunday at $1.456 billion, or 53% of the $2.768 billion average across the last thirty complete days.
The window's heaviest day was Thursday 3 September at $4.175 billion, and that was also the biggest up-close of the run at +7.4%.
The twelve closes into the anchor read 1.4227, 1.4533, 1.3839, 1.3963, 1.3578, 1.3799, 1.3519, 1.3511, 1.4514, 1.3986, 1.4125 and 1.4235. Two weeks of chop inside eleven cents, with one spike and one giveback.
What Does XRP's Price History Show?
Inside the 365 sessions ending Sunday 6 September 2026, XRP's highest close was 3.1192 on Saturday 13 September 2025 and its lowest was 0.9936 on Sunday 16 August 2026. Intraday, the same window spans 3.1858 to 0.9882.
The all-time high is $3.65, set Thursday 17 July 2025 according to CoinGecko. A second feed carries an intraday 3.84 print from January 2018, so name your source before you quote a record. The anchor is 61.0% below the CoinGecko figure either way.
Structure matters more than records. The 2025 closing range ran 1.7963 to 3.5504, and 2026 has traded almost entirely beneath it. The Thursday 18 December 2025 close at 1.8074 was the last shelf defended before the February collapse.
The swings since then are tight and dated. Highs at 1.5428 on Monday 16 March, 1.4851 on 14 May and 1.5196 on Sunday 23 August. Lows at 1.0935 on 6 June, 1.04 on 30 June and 0.9936 on 16 August.
The moving averages tell a story that sounds contradictory until you slow it down. The 50-day is 1.18608, the 200-day is 1.27447, and the faster line is 6.94% below the slower one.
That's a death cross, and it's been in place since Saturday 8 November 2025.
Price, meanwhile, is 20.0% above the 50-day and 11.7% above the 200-day, and XRP has closed above its 50-day on 19 of the last 30 sessions.
Think of them as two odometers reading the same trip over different distances. The short one is still catching up to the long one, even though the car is moving faster than either reading. Closing that gap needs the 50-day to rise 0.088.
Does Anything in the Tape Explain the Last Session?
No, and this is where a lot of XRP writing goes wrong.
On Sunday 6 September, 32 of the 34 assets on our tape rose, with only BNB at −1.86% and LIT at −4.35% falling. The session median came in at +2.41%, and XRP's +0.78% ranks 29th of those 34.
Only Bitcoin, Litecoin and the two decliners did worse on the session. The seven-session +4.84% ranks 29th as well, and it's the weakest of the nine large-cap altcoins still trading under a death cross, a group DOT led at +19.63% with ADA second at +15.98%.
So there's no XRP-specific driver to write about here. A market-wide risk bid lifted almost everything, and XRP took less of it than almost anything else.
The one window where XRP genuinely led is thirty sessions, where its +39.42% beat Bitcoin's +23.73% and ADA's +11.30%. XRP led the month and lagged the week. Both are true, and you need both windows on the page before any level makes sense.
What Could Move the XRP Price?
Every item below is dated and falls after our publish line, so each is a preview with consensus attached and no outcome claimed.
Does the 1 October Escrow Release Change Supply?
On Tuesday 1 September 2026, one billion XRP came out of escrow and 700 million went straight back in across two EscrowCreate legs at 18:11:30 and 18:13:31 UTC, both with a FinishAfter date of 1 May 2029.
Net movement to Ripple's liquid wallets was 300 million. The escrow mechanism explains why that pattern repeats.
The next release is Thursday 1 October 2026 at 00:00 UTC, one billion XRP across four escrows in 400 million plus 100 million and 300 million plus 200 million legs.
It works like a standing order that mostly pays itself back. What you watch is the re-lock ratio, not the headline billion.
What Happens if fixCleanup3_3_0 Activates on Friday 11 September?
Thirty of 35 validators are voting yes on the XRPL amendment fixCleanup3_3_0, against a threshold of 28. Majority was reached Friday 28 August 2026 at 11:15 UTC, which puts activation around Friday 11 September at 11:15 UTC if support holds.
It's a bug-fix bundle. Treat it as a dated network item and not a price event.
Can the CLARITY Act Vote Move Anything?
A Senate cloture vote on the motion to proceed for the CLARITY Act, H.R. 3633, is reported for 15 September by a law-firm policy tracker. Senate and Congress sources didn't resolve for us, so this one is reported rather than confirmed.
Market-structure legislation has moved XRP before, and a cloture vote is a procedural step rather than a passage.
How Do the Macro Prints Between 10 and 16 September Fit?
PPI lands Thursday 10 September at 12:30 UTC and CPI follows Friday 11 September at the same hour. Then the FOMC meets Tuesday and Wednesday 15-16 September with projections attached.
XRP trades as a high-beta risk asset into those prints, and the projections tend to matter more than the decision.
Where Do Spot XRP ETF Flows Fit?
Flow data for spot XRP products is the channel most likely to shift the marginal bid, and it's also the number we can't verify.
The flow aggregator that publishes daily tables for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana carries no XRP page at all, and issuer pages render as empty shells to any automated read.
So treat any specific daily XRP flow figure you see quoted as second-hand until you can open the issuer's own filing. That's a data gap, and pretending otherwise is how a forecast inherits a number nobody sourced.
What Does Ripple's Own Calendar Add?
Ripple's own page carries dated corporate announcements running through late August. They include the Ripple Prime Delta One launch on 27 August, a Jeonbuk Bank partnership and a $275 million senior notes raise on 18 August, and investments in ZILO and Licuido on 3 August.
None of them are XRP-denominated flows, and none showed up in the tape.
What Are the Bear, Base and Bull Scenarios for XRP in September 2026?
Nothing below is a target. Each level is a structural reference that already exists on the chart, printed with the condition that would put price there.

|
A note on the base range, because the template's default pair doesn't work here. The literal anchor-to-50-day bracket would be 1.19 to 1.42, and it falls entirely below the anchor, since price is above both averages.
The 200-day and the August swing high are the nearest structural pair that brackets 1.4235, so that's the pair used.
Bear confirmation. The bear case needs the 200-day to fail as support on a close, and price has held above it for most of the run.
The August low came with intraday prints between 0.9882 and 0.9982 on seven of the nine sessions from 11 to 19 August. That's where the buyers were, and invalidation of the bear case is a close above 1.5196.
Base confirmation. The base is already the live scenario, and it's the one thin volume argues for. A Sunday tape at 53% of average doesn't break brackets in either direction. Invalidation is a decisive close outside 1.27 or 1.52.
Bull confirmation. The bull case needs the death cross to resolve, and that's arithmetic rather than sentiment. It also needs a close through the August high that holds for more than a session, because 1.5196 rejected in March and again in August.
The far reference above it is the Monday 5 January 2026 swing-high close at 2.3472. The all-time high is a record, not a level.
What Are the Risks of Trading XRP?
The Death Cross Has Not Resolved
Ten months of the 50-day below the 200-day is a long structural drag, and the gap is still 6.94%. Price above both averages is encouraging and it isn't a cross. Until the 50-day rises 0.088, the structure reads the way it reads.
Volume at the Anchor Is Thin
$1.456 billion is 53% of the thirty-day average, and Phemex-side turnover ran 0.58x its own prior-30-bar average. Thin tape exaggerates both directions, and a level that holds on light volume tells you less than one that holds on heavy volume.
The ETF Flow Channel Cannot Be Read by Script
We could not primary-verify a single daily flow figure for spot XRP products, because the aggregator blocks scripts and the issuer pages don't render. Any specific daily number you see quoted has been copied from somewhere, and you should treat it that way.
Escrow Supply Overhangs the Float
On-ledger escrow across eight labelled accounts totalled at least 31.7 billion XRP on Monday 7 September 2026, and that's a floor, since one account query failed.
Ripple's own page, on a 30 June 2026 basis, printed 32.6 billion in escrow. Different bases, so never mix the two in one sentence.
The Legislative Date Is Reported and Not Confirmed
The 15 September cloture vote comes from a policy tracker rather than a Senate calendar we could open. Trading a date you can't verify is how traders end up positioned for an event that moves.
Leverage Cuts Both Ways at 50x
XRP-USDT futures on Phemex go to 50x, and a 2% adverse move against maximum leverage is the whole position. The scenario bracket in this article spans roughly 30% from bear to bull, and that's many liquidations wide.
Is XRP a Good Investment in 2026?
That depends on which window you believe, and this page deliberately gives you three. Over thirty sessions XRP outperformed Bitcoin. Over seven it finished near the bottom of the tape. Over 365 it's down 49.33% and it remains 61.0% below its record.
What can be said cleanly is that XRP reads as a structure trade rather than a story trade at these levels.
The catalysts on the calendar are a bug-fix amendment, a procedural vote reported by a tracker and a monthly escrow cycle that mostly re-locks itself. None of those is a demand shock.
Where the information does live is the levels themselves. If the 200-day holds and the 50-day keeps rising, the bracket resolves upward on arithmetic alone. If 1.27 fails on a close, the August low is the next real reference, and there isn't much between them.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the XRP price prediction for September 2026?
Three derived scenarios rather than a target. Bear $0.99 from the 365-session closing low, base $1.27 to $1.52 between the 200-day average and the August swing high, bull $1.81 from the December 2025 shelf.
Why is XRP under a death cross when the price is above both moving averages?
Averages lag price. The 50-day is still absorbing the sub-$1.10 June and August closes, so it reads 1.18608 against the 200-day's 1.27447 even with spot at 1.4235.
How much XRP does Ripple still hold in escrow?
At least 31.7 billion across eight labelled on-ledger accounts as of Monday 7 September 2026, and that figure is a floor, because one account query returned an error rather than a balance.
Does the 1 October release add one billion XRP to circulating supply?
Historically no. The 1 September cycle released one billion and re-locked 700 million within minutes, leaving 300 million net. The re-lock ratio is the number that matters, not the gross release.
Bottom Line
The bracket to trade is 1.27 to 1.52, and the anchor at 1.4235 is closer to the cap than the floor. The 50-day decides which edge gives way, and needs to climb 0.088 to end a death cross running since Saturday 8 November 2025.
Above, the Sunday 23 August close at 1.5196 has rejected twice and has to give way on a close rather than a wick, on volume back above the $2.768 billion thirty-day average. Below, 1.27 is the line, and the August low is next.
The dated calendar between 10 and 16 September is macro rather than XRP, so when the story is this quiet the chart is the only thing talking.
