Ian De Bode is the Acting CEO and President of Ondo Finance, and a Delaware Court of Chancery case filed on 24 July 2026 disputes his right to take the chief executive's powers without a board vote. He stepped up after founder Nathan Allman's death in May 2026.
He signed Ondo's 1 June 2026 letter as Chief Executive Officer, and Ondo's team page read "Acting CEO and President" on 28 September. The case reporting we read shows allegations and his denial, and no court ruling.

Who Is Ian De Bode?
Ian De Bode had led "much of Ondo's strategy and day-to-day operations for more than two years" before he became CEO, his 1 June letter says.
Ondo Finance builds tokenized Treasury funds and tokenized US stocks. Its ONDO governance token trades on Phemex as a spot pair and a perpetual.
The Block quoted him at Ondo's 24 September product launch, and Ondo's DTCC release of 16 September quoted him too.
How Did Ian De Bode Rise at Ondo?
Step 1: Digital Assets at McKinsey
His SALT speaker biography says Ian De Bode led the digital asset efforts at McKinsey before he joined Ondo. It credits him with nearly a decade of work with executives and traditional financial services companies on digital assets. The same page still lists his first Ondo title, Chief Strategy Officer.
Step 2: Chief Strategy Officer at Ondo
Blockhead reports that he joined Ondo Finance as chief strategy officer in late 2023. His own letter gives Allman the credit for the products that defined Ondo, starting with OUSG, which it calls the first peer-to-peer transferable tokenized Treasury token.
Step 3: President From November 2025
Blockhead's 26 May 2026 report dates his promotion to president to November 2025, six months before Allman's death. The same report reads that promotion and the later CEO job as the result of "the organisational groundwork Allman had put in place".
Step 4: Chief Executive From 26 May 2026
Ondo announced Allman's death on 26 May 2026, and Blockhead reported that De Bode "has been appointed chief executive immediately". The announcement made him Ondo Finance CEO and disclosed no cause of death. Allman was 32, according to De Bode's 1 June letter on Ondo's blog.
Our profile of Nathan Allman, the Ondo Finance founder covers the founder's own career and the company he started in 2021.
Kathleen C. Allman acts for Allman's estate in the Delaware litigation, as coingape summarised it on 21 September. On 24 July she used the estate's votes to rebuild Ondo's board, the complaint says, and she filed case 2026-0978 in the Court of Chancery that day.
The complaint says De Bode took on powers that needed board approval. It also records his side's argument that Ondo's bylaws made him CEO automatically. Kathleen Allman seeks control of the company and his removal as chief executive, The Block reported on 24 September. De Bode has called the allegations "meritless". Coingape reports that the docket lists the case before Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick.

Why His Story Matters Beyond Ondo
For founders: The litigation describes Allman as Ondo's CEO and sole director as well as its controlling shareholder, coingape reports. Ondo's second board seat was empty when he died, so no sitting director was left to appoint a successor.
For investors: Ondo shipped a DTCC membership on 16 September and three portfolio tokens on 24 September, weeks after the case was filed. A tokenized real world asset carries its issuer's governance risk along with its underlying, and this dispute gives that risk a docket number.
For traders: If you trade ONDO, you're trading the listed token tied to Ondo Finance, so its chart carries the product calendar and the court calendar at once.
What Traders Should Watch
The Delaware docket: case 2026-0978 is where any ruling on De Bode's CEO powers would appear. Until one does, every claim about who runs Ondo belongs to one side of the case.
The title on the team page: Ondo's leadership page listed him as "Acting CEO and President" on 28 September 2026. Any change there is Ondo's own statement of who holds the job.
The portfolio tokens: Ondo Global Markets issues the three tokens to eligible investors outside the US, The Block reports. Ondo said it plans to add more onchain portfolios over time, and The Block's report gave no date for the next one.
The DTCC connection: Ondo's broker-dealer subsidiary, Oasis Pro Markets, joined Fund/SERV on 16 September 2026. The joint release says the membership opens a path for Ondo's tokenized funds to reach traditional fund distributors through one standard connection.
How to Trade the Trends De Bode Represents
Via crypto: ONDO is the direct way to trade Ondo's story on Phemex. Phemex's product list on 28 September 2026 showed the ONDO / USDT perpetual at up to 50x leverage with funding every four hours, and an ONDO / USDT spot pair alongside it.
Our guide to ONDO, the leading real world asset project explains the project behind the token before you size a position.
Via TradFi perpetuals: Phemex lists perpetuals on US stocks such as NVDA / USDT and AAPL / USDT, a direct route to US equities, the asset class Ondo's tokenized stock business brings onchain.
