What Is Pixels (PIXEL)? The Ronin Farming Game Token Explained

Key Points

Explore what Pixels (PIXEL) crypto is, why its price and market cap vary by tracker, and how the in-game token powers a leading Ronin farming game. Learn how.

Pixels (PIXEL) is a free-to-play farming game on the Ronin network, and its PIXEL token closed 24.17% higher in a single day in early October 2026. PIXEL pays out the game's rewards and buys items inside it. The two main price trackers disagree on how many PIXEL exist, so its market value depends on which one you read.

On CoinMarketCap (CMC), PIXEL went from $0.005682 to $0.007056 that day on $39.93 million of volume, 5.05 times the day before. At that close, CMC's 3.50 billion circulating tokens make a $24.70 million market value. CoinGecko counts 771 million, the same figure CMC carried on PIXEL's first trading day in February 2024, and gets $5.44 million. The two market values sit 4.54 times apart on the same price.

What Is Pixels Crypto?

Pixels crypto means PIXEL, the token of a farming game that runs on Ronin, the chain built for Axie Infinity. The game went live on Ronin in October 2023, and PIXEL started trading in February 2024 with a hard cap of 5 billion tokens.

The Pixels crypto game plays in a browser and costs nothing to start. Its official site describes a loop of managing crops and raising animals on your own patch of land. The harvest gives you the energy to keep building. The site claims more than 10 million players and ships an update every two weeks. The farmland plots players own are NFTs on Ronin.

PIXEL is the money layer on top of that loop. Players spend it inside the game and stake it to the games they want to see rewarded.

PIXEL is trending because its early-October jump was the biggest one-day gain since March 2026, and it came on the heaviest volume since mid-August.

The volume matters more than the price. More dollars of PIXEL changed hands that day than the whole token was worth, 1.62 times its market value on CMC's count, and the previous day had traded under $8 million. That is the pattern of how trading volume affects price on a small token, where a burst of orders moves the close a long way.

No project news stands behind it. Pixels' Medium blog hasn't posted since February 2024, and the litepaper's token pages carry no dated change that lines up with the move. Other game tokens rose on the same day, and 103 of the 135 Phemex perpetuals with a one-day move closed higher, so the day reads as a broad rally with no Pixels-specific trigger on the record.

How Does Pixels Work?

Players farm and build inside the game, and every PIXEL they spend feeds two pots. The litepaper's Key Changes pagesends 80% of spent PIXEL to a community treasury that a DAO is meant to own and returns 20% to the reward pool. Stakers take a portion of the 80%, so their income rises and falls with what players spend.

A DAO-owned treasury puts its spending to a vote, the setup explained in how blockchain governance works.

Rewards flow back out on a budget. In the first phase, Core Pixels drew a fixed 20 million PIXEL a month, with smaller pools for Pixel Dungeons and Forgotten Runiverse. The second phase sets a global cap of 28 million PIXEL a month and splits it among games by how much PIXEL players stake to each one.

vPIXEL and the Farmer Fee

The litepaper's vPIXEL page adds a second token, vPIXEL, backed one for one by PIXEL and usable only for spending and staking. A player who withdraws PIXEL pays a Farmer Fee the litepaper set at 20-50% at launch, adjustable by governance.

Withdrawing vPIXEL costs nothing, but vPIXEL can't be traded on any market. Spending it triggers a crypto burnunder the litepaper's Burn-to-Unlock rule, and the PIXEL behind it leaves a locked pool for studios to recycle into rewards.

PIXEL Tokenomics

PIXEL has a hard cap of 5 billion tokens. CMC counts 3.50 billion in circulation, 70.03% of the cap. It has revised that count 43 times since launch, most recently in early October 2026.

CoinGecko's count hasn't moved all year. It shows an identical 771 million PIXEL on every daily point of 2026, the 15.42% of the cap that circulated when the token launched. Multiply each count by the early-October close and you get two different tokens.

Supply basis
PIXEL counted
Value at the early-October close
CMC circulating
3,501,298,153
$24.70 million
CoinGecko circulating
771,041,667
$5.44 million
Maximum supply
5,000,000,000
$35.28 million (fully diluted)

Trust CMC's number. It moves when tokens unlock and reward pools pay out, and CoinGecko's figure still prices the launch float. Any page that shows you PIXEL as a $5 million token is reading that frozen count, and Phemex's own PIXEL price page draws the same 771 million figure.

How to Buy PIXEL Safely

Phemex delisted its PIXEL markets, the spot pair and the perpetual it listed in February 2024, so these steps cover buying PIXEL into a self-custody wallet.

  1. Pick the network before you buy, because PIXEL exists on Ethereum and on Ronin and the game itself runs on Ronin, so a Ronin-compatible wallet keeps buying and staking in one place.

  2. Match the contract character for character, 0x3429d03c6F7521AeC737a0BBF2E5ddcef2C3Ae31 on Ethereum and 0x7eae20d11ef8c779433eb24503def900b9d28ad7 on Ronin.

  3. Skip the namesakes, from Not Pixel (PX) to two unrelated tokens that use the same PIXEL ticker on Base and Solana, because none of them has any tie to the Pixels game.

  4. Send a small test transfer first, since a transfer on the wrong network can strand your tokens and a test costs one extra fee.

  5. Check the pool depth before a large order, because a token that traded under $8 million the day before its spike can move sharply on one big buy.

The price page below follows PIXEL without a live market. Futures use leverage, and a leveraged position is closed automatically if losses reach its margin.

What Are the Risks of Pixels?

Supply Keeps Arriving

About 1.50 billion PIXEL sit outside CMC's circulating count, and the latest step added 33.7 million tokens in early October 2026, the first change since June. The litepaper names the pressure itself, saying tradable rewards create "constant sell pressure the moment rewards hit a player's wallet," and the Farmer Fee is its answer.

Spikes Have Faded Before

In March 2026 PIXEL rose 81.03% and then 60.70% on back-to-back days to close at $0.01455. It gave back 38.2% within a week, and the all-time low of $0.003810 followed on 30 July 2026 on CMC.

The Game Has to Keep Players Spending

The stakers' cut of the treasury comes only from PIXEL that players spend, so that income depends on activity inside one game and its partners. The official site publishes no daily player count, and that leaves you without a project number to track activity against.

Is Pixels Crypto a Good Investment?

Pixels crypto is a high-risk bet on one game's economy, and the price record argues for caution. The early-October close stands 99.31% below the March 2024 high of $1.022 and 14.57% below PIXEL's last close of 2025, even after the jump.

What would have to be true is plain enough. Spending inside the game has to grow faster than unlocks and reward pools add tokens, because spending is the one flow in the litepaper that sends PIXEL back to the treasury and the reward pool.

PIXEL trades with a small group of game tokens and metaverse coins, so a sector bid can lift it with the rest and leave as fast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is pixel coin dead?

No. The Pixels game ships updates every two weeks according to its site, and PIXEL traded $39.93 million in a single day in early October 2026. The token trades more than 99% below its 2024 peak, though. Several unrelated tokens also trade under the Pixel name.

What is pixel token?

PIXEL is the token of the Pixels farming game, issued on Ethereum and Ronin with a hard cap of 5 billion. Players spend it in the game and stake it to the games they back, and CMC counts about 3.50 billion in circulation.

How to buy pixel crypto?

Use a self-custody wallet on Ronin or Ethereum and match the official contract address before you buy. Phemex no longer offers a PIXEL spot or perpetual market, and its PIXEL price page tracks the token.

What is the PIXEL price?

PIXEL closed at $0.007056 on CMC in early October 2026, after a 24.17% one-day gain. Its record high on CMC is $1.022 from March 2024 and its low is $0.003810 from July 2026.

Bottom Line

PIXEL's price is the easy number, and its size is the one most pages get wrong. A token that looks like a $5 million microcap on CoinGecko-fed pages is a $25 million one on a count that tracks its unlocks, with 1.5 billion more to come. A one-day jump on that base is fast money, and March 2026 showed how fast it leaves. Price PIXEL on the supply that moves.
