LayerZero Price Analysis: Can ZRO Hold $1.80?

Key Points

Get expert LayerZero (ZRO) price analysis with key levels, technicals, and trading strategy after a sharp rally. Learn how ZRO can hold above $1.80. Explore more!

LayerZero (ZRO) closed 3 October 2026 at $1.996 on Phemex spot, up 14.19% on the day and its highest close since 13 April. This LayerZero price analysis says ZRO holds $1.80 as long as daily closes stay above $1.802, the 1 October close and a level 9.72% under the 3 October close.

ZRO broke out on its busiest Phemex spot day on record, while seven other cross-chain tokens rose a median 0.35%. The trap is in the averages. If ZRO closed at one steady price from 4 October, the 50-day would cross above the 200-day by the 6 October bar at any price from $1.6888 up. That's 15.39% under the 3 October close, so a golden cross says nothing about $1.80.

What Happened to ZRO on 3 October?

ZRO opened the 3 October bar at $1.742 on Phemex spot and reached $2.147, its highest print since the $2.185 of 27 March, before closing at $1.996. The 2 October bar had made a similar run, touching $1.998 and then closing at $1.748. On 3 October the close kept most of the move and finished 7.03% under the high.

CoinGecko has ZRO up 14.24% to $1.9937826 and CMC has it up 14.04% to $1.9923348. CoinGecko's last higher close came on 13 April at $2.0377 and CMC's on 16 April at $1.99301.

The 3 October bar capped a 76.95% climb over 30 bars from $1.128 on 3 September, and the close stood 177.99% above ZRO's lowest 2026 close, $0.718 on 2 August.

The buying came in size. CMC's settled 3 October row shows $256,218,983.52 of ZRO volume, 3.04 times its average over the previous 30 days and the largest daily figure CMC shows since 12 February 2026. That's 32.23% of ZRO's $794.95 million market value at CMC's close. On Phemex the spot pair turned over $2,942,199.10, the largest of its 836 bars since listing on 20 June 2024. Our explainer on how crypto trading volume affects price covers how traders read a day like that.

No post on LayerZero's blog or its foundation's Medium feed explains the move. The project's blog index, read at 14:34 UTC on 4 October, has no post after a 30 September research paper on proof-of-stake security. The LayerZero Foundation's Medium feed, read in the same minute, ends on 18 June 2026.

Method: the control sets ZRO's 2 to 3 October move on CoinGecko closes beside seven other tokens that move value between chains, plus BTC and ETH.

ZRO ran 14.24% while the median of the seven rose 0.35%, and Bitcoin and Ether gained less than 1% each. The bid was specific to ZRO.

Why Did STG Move Too?

Stargate's STG rose 14.15% on Phemex spot on 3 October, and that's ZRO's move passed through a fixed ratio. DefiLlama's Stargate token-rights page, updated 1 April 2026, records that STG holders can convert at 1 STG to 0.08634 ZRO after LayerZero's takeover of Stargate.

At the 3 October closes STG traded at 0.086473 ZRO on Phemex, 0.15% above its redemption value, with CoinGecko and CMC a fraction under it. So STG's rally can't count as a second token confirming ZRO's.

That tie is recent. On CoinGecko's closes STG traded at 6.10 times its redemption value on 10 June 2026 and 69.29% above it on 15 September. That day LayerZero's 15 September ecosystem update said holders can convert until 15 December, adding that "conversions will not be supported after this date". By the 23 September close the premium was 1.24%, and no close through 3 October strayed more than 1.79% from the ratio.

Conversions can add up to 10,429,786 ZRO by 15 December, which is CMC's 120,799,003.6 circulating STG times 0.08634. That's 2.61% of CMC's 399,004,422 circulating ZRO, with both counts read at 14:33 UTC on 4 October. It's an upper bound, since CMC may already count some of that ZRO as circulating.

Stargate moves tokens between blockchains, the job laid out in our guide on what cross-chain bridges are and their risks.

Can ZRO Hold $1.80?

The line is $1.802, the 1 October close, and the 2 October bar shows why. That bar pushed to $1.998 and gave back 12.51% from its high to close at $1.748, under the line, a bar before the breakout. A daily close back under $1.802 would repeat that failure.

Case
What has to happen
Distance from the $1.996 close
Bull
Closes stay above $1.802, then clear $2.038, $2.147 and $2.310
+2.10% to +15.73%
Base
Closes range from $1.743 to $2.038 while RSI cools
-12.68% to +2.10%
Bear
A close under $1.743 brings $1.667, then $1.389, into play
-16.48% to -30.41%

Our read: we favour the base case, a range between the $1.743 shelf and the $2.038 April close that lets the momentum readings cool through time. If you hold ZRO, a daily close under $1.743 is the one that breaks that view.

LayerZero Technical Analysis

Method: levels are Phemex ZRO/USDT spot closes or intraday prints, and the averages and indicators run on the 836 spot closes through 3 October 2026. CoinGecko's closes give the same 50/200 state and an RSI of 78.2.

Support and Resistance

Support starts at $1.802, 9.72% under the 3 October close. The 30 September and 2 October closes of $1.743 and $1.748 form a shelf about 12.5% lower. Below it are the 29 September close of $1.667 and the 22 September close of $1.389, 16.48% and 30.41% under the 3 October close.

Overhead, the 13 April close of $2.038 is 2.10% away and the 7 April close of $2.08 is 4.21% away. Then come the 3 October high of $2.147 at 7.57%, the 17 March close of $2.310 at 15.73% and the 8 October 2025 close of $2.428 at 21.64%.

The 50-Day and 200-Day Averages

The 50-day average closed the 3 October bar at $1.18282, 4.90% under the 200-day at $1.24381, so the death cross of 20 May 2026 still stood. The price ran 60.47% above the 200-day, and our explainer on how to trade crypto with the moving average covers how both averages are built.

That gap can close on arithmetic alone. If every close from 4 October came in at one price, the 50-day would cross the 200-day by the 6 October bar at any price of $1.6888 or more. A lower price only pushes the date back, to the 7 October bar at $1.3663 and the 8 October bar above $1.1938. Even at $1.00, 49.90% under the 3 October close, the cross would land by the 10 October bar.

The closes leaving the two windows explain it. Between the 4 and 10 October bars the 50-day drops the 15 to 21 August closes, which ran from $0.754 to $0.997. Over the same bars the 200-day drops the 18 to 24 March closes of $1.928 to $2.267. Cheap closes leave the short average and expensive ones leave the long one, whatever ZRO prints on the new bars.

Our guide on how a golden cross differs from a death cross explains the trend signal traders usually read into the cross, and the roll-off means this one can't carry it.

Method: we appended constant daily closes to the 836 Phemex spot closes and ran a binary search for the lowest price that produces a cross on each bar. CoinGecko's closes put the $1.00 cross a day later, on the 11 October bar, and each cross bar named here closes at 00:00 UTC on 7 October or later.

RSI and MACD

The 14-day RSI on Wilder's smoothing read 78.3 on 3 October, with nine of its last ten readings above 70. Our guide on how to trade with the RSI indicator treats that zone as overbought. The last reading above 80 came on 23 August, at 80.4, and the $1.177 close then fell 12.23% over seven bars before the climb resumed. MACD on 12-26-9 settings read 0.2062 against a signal of 0.1596, with the histogram up to 0.0467 from 0.0386. So momentum was still building at the close while RSI flagged a stretched move, which is why the base case leans on time to do the cooling.

What Could Move ZRO Next?

The date to circle is 15 December, the last day STG holders can convert, and up to 10.43 million ZRO can still arrive that way. Watch the STG price, because a discount to 0.08634 ZRO pays traders to buy STG and sell the ZRO it converts into.

The bigger supply line is vesting. LayerZero's 3 June post on the ZRO token put 486 million of the 1 billion ZRO in vesting across the LayerZero Foundation, strategic partners and core contributors. Strategic partners receive a gross 12.7 million a month, 3.18% of CMC's circulating count. The foundation's remaining 183 million stay locked until Zero, LayerZero's own blockchain, reaches mainnet.

What Are the Risks of Trading LayerZero After the 3 October Rally?

Seller risk: LayerZero's 3 June post says one entity accounted for 37.9% of all unlocked ZRO sold in the open market to that date. It had sold more than 80% of its unlocked position, and the rest unlocks at 2.05 million a month.

Momentum risk: an RSI of 78.3 and a 2 October bar that swung 12.51% from high to close show how fast ZRO can give back ground at these readings.

Venue risk: Phemex's ZRO perpetual is delisted, so there's no ZRO futures contract on Phemex to hedge a position with.

How to Trade LayerZero (ZRO) on Phemex

Phemex lists ZRO/USDT as a spot pair. Its ZRO perpetual is delisted, so there's no live perpetual to quote.

If you're trading the levels in this ZRO price analysis, you buy ZRO/USDT with USDT and watch $1.802 and the $1.743 shelf below, with $2.038 the first test above.

For leverage, Phemex's futures markets carry perpetuals on Bitcoin and Ether, the two majors that gained less than 1% while ZRO ran.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is LayerZero crypto and what does the ZRO token do?

LayerZero is a messaging protocol that connects blockchains, and its 3 June post put its lifetime transfers above $260 billion across 165 networks. ZRO has a total supply of 1 billion, and since April 2026 all Stargate revenue goes to buying ZRO.

How did LayerZero come to own Stargate and its STG token?

LayerZero's 3 June post says the Stargate protocol changed hands in August 2025 for $120 million, an effective cash cost of $25 million because Stargate's treasury held $95 million. DefiLlama's token-rights page adds that the Stargate DAO has been dissolved and its STG burned.

How much unlocked ZRO have investors sold since the token launched?

LayerZero's 3 June post says 134.7 million ZRO had been unlocked to investors by 31 May 2026 and 85.9 million of it, or 63.8%, was still held. Open-market sales averaged 4.9 million ZRO a month, about 0.5% of total supply.

Bottom Line

ZRO's 3 October close came on CMC's heaviest ZRO volume day since 12 February while its sector barely moved, so $1.802 is a line buyers can defend. Two numbers show if those buyers stay, the daily close against $1.802 and STG's price against 0.08634 ZRO until 15 December. The golden cross the averages can print within days measures neither of them.
