Shares of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell more than 10% in early Friday trading on South Korea's Nextrade exchange amid intensifying AI concerns following the US midterm elections. The KOSPI 200 index futures dropped 7.9%, while ETFs tracking South Korean stocks slid 13% overnight. In Japan, CME Nikkei 225 futures expiring in December stood at 57,255 as of 8:02 Tokyo time, roughly 6.26% below Thursday's close of 61,077.90. The selloff follows a steep decline in US markets, with the Nasdaq 100 falling 6.4% and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropping over 12% — its largest single-day decline since March 2020.
