The real controller of the collapsed European crypto exchange Zondacrypto is reportedly hiding in Dubai, with customer losses potentially exceeding $100 million. Polish media reports indicate that the exchange's official representative was seen in Dubai with a man known as "Maniek," identified as the true operator of the business. CEO Przemysław Kral, who served as a "frontman," disappeared after the exchange's reserves plummeted by over 99%. Initially thought to have fled to Israel, Kral is now confirmed to be in the UAE. Zondacrypto, originally founded as BitBay in 2014, was rebranded and relocated to Estonia under Kral's leadership in 2021. Reports suggest the exchange may have been controlled by the Russian Tambov crime gang, affecting approximately 30,000 Polish customers. Losses are estimated at a minimum of 350 million PLN (around $97 million), with the potential for higher figures. Additionally, founder Sylwester Suszek went missing in 2022, and a wallet containing 4,500 bitcoins remains inaccessible.
