ZachXBT has successfully identified a suspect in the 2024 Bittensor ($TAO) hack, which resulted in the theft of over $28 million from 32 TAO holders. The investigation, reported by PANews on October 15, utilized on-chain transaction analysis, Railgun privacy protocol flows, Avalanche bridge records, and unusual NFT wash sales to trace the stolen funds back to a former employee's address. The investigation revealed that the suspect engaged in NFT wash sales, including the purchase of anime NFTs at inflated prices, to obfuscate the stolen funds. This breakthrough led to ZachXBT earning a white hat bounty for their efforts in uncovering the theft and identifying the perpetrator.
