Crypto investigator ZachXBT has criticized Bitcoin Depot's ATM services, highlighting a case where a U.S. elderly fraud victim was charged a significant premium. The victim exchanged $25,000 in fiat for Bitcoin at a rate of $108,000 per BTC, despite the market price being around $75,000. This transaction resulted in the victim receiving only 0.232 BTC, valued at approximately $17,500.
ZachXBT also pointed out a recent security breach at Bitcoin Depot, where the company suffered a $3.26 million loss, equivalent to about 54 BTC. The breach reportedly went unnoticed for several days, raising concerns about the company's operational security and customer protection measures.
