A Xiamen-based employee has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison for embezzling over 1.53 million yuan from her company and losing it all in cryptocurrency trading. Guo, who worked at a publishing company in Fujian, manipulated the ordering and settlement process of educational materials by substituting the company's QR code with her personal WeChat account and bank card. Starting in 2024, she invested the embezzled funds in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, ultimately incurring total losses. The case came to light in 2025, prompting Guo to voluntarily surrender to the authorities. The Tong'an District Procuratorate in Xiamen confirmed the court's decision, which also included a fine for her actions.
