Visa has invested in AI programming platform Replit to explore integrating its payment capabilities into the platform. This collaboration aims to enable developers and AI agents to process payments directly within Replit, leveraging Visa's Intelligent Commerce and Trusted Agent Protocol. These technologies focus on AI-powered payment scenarios and secure authentication for AI agents initiating transactions. Currently, over 1,000 Visa employees are using Replit for development and prototyping, although no joint product has been officially launched yet. This investment highlights the growing competition in AI agent payment infrastructure, with companies like Robinhood and Google also advancing similar capabilities. Replit's enterprise market presence is expanding, supported by Visa's involvement and the launch of a self-service enterprise onboarding service. Replit's valuation has surged to $9 billion following a $400 million Series D round, reflecting its rapid growth and low customer churn rates.
