Hanoi police have confiscated $34 million in assets from Nguyen Hoa Binh, chairman of NextTech, amid a cryptocurrency fraud investigation. The assets include 597 gold bars, titles for 18 properties, and two vehicles. Binh and nine others face accusations of embezzlement and accounting violations linked to the AntEx crypto project.
Authorities claim Binh's group raised $4.5 million in 2021 by selling 332 billion tokens to 30,000 investors, with funds allegedly converted to local currency and distributed among the group. Some funds were reportedly transferred to companies associated with NextTech. Binh is also accused of directing employees to keep dual accounting records to hide income from Nextland, a real estate firm. The investigation continues, with potential for additional charges.
