The Linux Foundation has announced the formation of the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) to establish open standards in the AI agent market, aiming to prevent fragmentation. Key contributors to this initiative include Anthropic, Block, and OpenAI, who have provided essential protocols and platforms. The foundation seeks to foster a neutral environment for open development and interoperability among AI agents. This strategic move is perceived as a countermeasure to China's increasing presence in the open-source AI sector, where Chinese models have achieved 17.1% of global downloads in 2025, surpassing the US's 15.8%. The AAIF is supported by a targeted fund and membership fees, ensuring no single member has unilateral decision-making power, thus promoting collaborative governance.
