U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna has launched an investigation into the Trump-associated cryptocurrency project, World Liberty Financial (WLFI). Khanna has sent a letter to WLFI co-founder Zach Witkoff, requesting records related to a $500 million investment by a UAE royal entity. According to The Wall Street Journal, Aryam Investment 1, controlled by UAE National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoon, acquired a 49% stake in WLFI. The deal, signed four days before Trump's inauguration, included a $250 million advance payment, with $187 million reportedly directed to Trump family entities. Khanna has set a deadline of March 1, 2026, for responses to his inquiries, citing potential violations of the U.S. Constitution's Emoluments Clause and national security risks. The investigation highlights concerns over foreign investments in projects linked to former President Trump.
