A coalition of UK finance and technology organizations has called on the government to incorporate blockchain technology into the proposed 'Tech Bridge' agreement with the United States. The appeal was directed to UK Business Secretary Peter Kyle and Economic Secretary to the Treasury Lucy Rigby, ahead of US President Donald Trump's upcoming visit. The groups, including the UK Cryptoasset Business Council, UK Finance, and TheCityUK, stressed the critical role of blockchain, stablecoins, and tokenization in modern finance. The coalition warned that omitting these technologies could diminish the UK's influence in global finance as other regions establish digital asset standards. They highlighted blockchain's potential to enhance cross-border payments and financial inclusion, urging its inclusion to preserve the UK's competitive advantage. This appeal aligns with recent UK initiatives to bolster digital asset regulation and strengthen cooperation with the US.
