Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has reiterated the Trump administration's commitment to not pursuing a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Bessent emphasized the administration's stance against the development of a CBDC, aligning with previous statements made by the administration. In addition to the CBDC stance, Bessent called on Congress to expedite the passage of the Clarity Act. He urged both the House and the Senate to prioritize the legislation, which aims to provide clearer regulatory guidelines for the cryptocurrency industry.
