The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has announced that Project Agorá, a collaborative initiative with major central banks, has demonstrated the potential of tokenization to enhance cross-border payments. The project aims to make these transactions faster and more secure by settling tokenized central bank money and bank deposits on blockchain technology. Following successful initial phases, Project Agorá will now proceed to "real-value" testing, marking a significant step towards practical implementation of blockchain in central banking operations.
