The Sandbox has announced the launch of its mobile-native game, The Sandbox NEXT, developed using Unreal Engine for enhanced visual and physics performance. The announcement was made by co-founder and COO Sebastien Borget at the EthCC[9] conference. Stress testing for the game began on March 26, featuring a multiplayer battle royale format supporting up to 20 players per match. The game includes two maps, "Desert" and "City," and offers optimized auto-aim and shooting mechanics for mobile devices.
Players can transfer their identity, game progress, and NFT assets from The Sandbox's main platform to the mobile version. NEXT will also integrate with SANDchain, a ZKsync-based Layer 2 network set to launch in September 2025, facilitating low-cost transactions for asset minting and marketplace trading on mobile.
