Thai immigration police arrested a 47-year-old Chinese national, known by the alias "Lee," on suspicion of orchestrating a cryptocurrency fraud scheme that caused investors to lose more than 100 million baht. The suspect, who also holds a Cambodian passport, allegedly lured victims into crypto investments with promises of high returns.
The North Bangkok District Court had previously issued an arrest warrant against Lee for fraud charges. Police traced his movements from Samut Prakan Province to a luxury residence in Chonburi Province, where joint immigration units executed the arrest. He has been transferred to Huai Khwang Police Station for legal proceedings. Thailand's Immigration Bureau stated it will continue targeting transnational criminal networks, specifically focusing on mule accounts and money laundering operations.
