Blockchain forensics firm AMLBot reports that Tether and Circle collectively froze over $3.4 billion in crypto assets between 2023 and 2025. Tether accounted for $3.3 billion, blacklisting 7,268 addresses, with over 2,800 linked to U.S. law enforcement actions. Tether utilized a 'freeze, destroy, and reissue' mechanism to recover some fraudulent and criminal funds, with more than 53% of frozen USDT on the Tron network. In contrast, Circle froze $109 million across 372 addresses, acting only under court or regulatory directives, without reissuing or destroying tokens.
