Syscoin has disclosed a preliminary review of a recent cross-chain bridge incident, revealing that approximately 5 billion SYS tokens were abnormally generated. The issue arose from a verification flaw in the bridging process, which allowed an attacker to exploit transaction proof validation. This vulnerability was used to create the tokens on the UTXO side through the compromised bridging path. Syscoin is currently investigating the incident to prevent future occurrences and ensure the security of its network.
