Susquehanna analyst Mehdi Hosseini said memory chips have become the leading force in the semiconductor industry, with their dominance expected to continue. He said AI data center investment could double chip industry revenue this year to $1.5 trillion, with memory chips serving as the main driver.
Hosseini cited July global shipment and average selling price data from the Semiconductor Industry Association, noting that memory chips now account for 50% to 55% of total semiconductor revenue, compared with a historical range of 20% to 30%. He highlighted Micron Technology, up 217% year-to-date, and SanDisk, up 531% year-to-date, as beneficiaries of rising AI-driven demand and prices, giving both stocks positive ratings.
