The Sui network has processed over $1 trillion in stablecoin transactions since August 2025, according to Mysten Labs co-founder Adeniyi Abiodun at Consensus 2026. Sui plans to introduce fee-free stablecoin transfers and privacy-focused payment features, aiming to become the default network for future financial flows. Abiodun highlighted the high costs of traditional cross-border payments and emphasized the need for stronger privacy protections in financial systems.
Sui is developing a storage layer for encrypted transaction intents to support AI-driven automated payments and future refund mechanisms. The network has also tested quantum-resistant signature technology, targeting deployment before the EU's 2030 quantum safety requirements. Despite recent technical challenges, including mainnet downtime in January 2026, Sui continues to innovate, with its current SUI token price at $0.99, significantly down from its January 2025 peak.
