Aftermath Finance has fallen victim to a significant security breach, resulting in the theft of approximately $1.1 million in USDC. The attack, which is currently ongoing, targets the platform's perpetual contracts protocol on the Sui Network. Over the course of 36 minutes, attackers executed 11 transactions to siphon funds.
The breach was facilitated by a vulnerability in the fee accounting mechanism of the perpetual contracts liquidation system. This flaw allowed attackers to artificially inflate synthetic collateral, enabling them to withdraw substantial amounts from the protocol's treasury. The incident highlights critical security challenges in decentralized finance platforms.
