South Korean authorities have arrested 131 individuals involved in large-scale drug trafficking operations using social media platforms like Telegram, with transactions conducted via virtual assets. The Gangwon Police Agency reported that over the past year, 54 individuals were apprehended for distribution and sales, while 77 were detained for drug use, with 44 already in custody. The investigation revealed that drugs were primarily smuggled from Southeast Asia and sold domestically, with over 60% of those involved aged between 20 and 30.
