The individual was also banned from financial activities for four years due to violations of the National Security Law. Authorities utilized blockchain data to trace a $487,000 Bitcoin payment from a North Korean hacker to the employee. This case highlights the effectiveness of enhanced crypto exchange regulations in tracking illicit transactions. Additionally, a military officer, Captain Kim, received a 10-year sentence and a $35,000 fine for his involvement. South Korea reported 36,684 suspicious crypto activities from January to August.
