Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has raised concerns that artificial intelligence could undermine post-quantum cryptography. Yakovenko highlighted the potential for AI to expose vulnerabilities in cryptographic systems that are not yet fully understood by the industry. He emphasized the need for additional safeguards, such as multi-signature wallet support and native protection through Program Derived Addresses, to mitigate these risks. Yakovenko also criticized Ethereum Layer 2 networks for their reliance on traditional cryptographic systems, which may not withstand future quantum threats. He warned of "harvest now, decrypt later" risks, where malicious actors could collect encrypted data now and decrypt it once quantum computing advances. Solana is actively working on integrating quantum-resistant solutions like Falcon-512 to address these challenges.
