SoFi Bank has transitioned its entire Mastercard card business to stablecoin settlement using its proprietary SoFiUSD token, becoming the first U.S. national bank to implement this model across a full payment network. The bank projects annualized transaction volume will exceed $25 billion following the complete migration of its debit and credit card operations.
The settlement infrastructure operates at the underlying layer of the existing payment system, requiring no changes for consumers or merchants. SoFi launched SoFiUSD in December 2025 and made it available to app users in May, following a partnership announcement with Mastercard in March. RS2 CEO Radi El Haj confirmed the initiative has moved beyond pilot testing into full operational deployment across the Mastercard network.
