Shiba Inu's Shibarium network faced a major security breach on September 15, 2025, resulting in a $2.4 million loss. An attacker used a flash loan to compromise 10 out of 12 validator keys, affecting Shibarium's cross-chain bridge. This led to the unauthorized withdrawal of 224.57 ETH and 92.6 billion SHIB tokens. In response, developers paused staking activities and secured remaining funds in a hardware wallet. A $23,000 bounty has been offered for the recovery of assets without pursuing legal action. Security firms are currently investigating the breach, which has also led to a decline in SHIB and BONE token prices, underscoring the importance of strong security measures in decentralized networks.
