Sentient, a New York-based AI company, has launched The GRID, an open-source network designed to facilitate the development and monetization of artificial general intelligence (AGI) systems. The platform provides a decentralized alternative to proprietary AI marketplaces, enabling developers to integrate AI agents, models, or tools and earn token-based rewards.
At its launch, The GRID features over 40 AI agents, 50 data sources, and more than 10 models, including blockchain-connected agents on Base, Polygon, and Arbitrum. Sentient Chat allows users to combine agents for tasks such as calendar coordination and data visualization. Co-founder Himanshu Tyagi highlights The GRID's interoperability, which supports real-time coordination among agents. The initiative has attracted over two million people to its waitlist, aiming to democratize AGI development and governance.
