Investors are aggressively buying the dip in semiconductor stocks despite the sector losing approximately $1 trillion in market value over the past six trading sessions. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index has fallen 12% amid concerns over AI spending, global competition, and rising interest rates, yet capital continues to flow into chip-focused funds at a record pace.
The $72 billion VanEck Semiconductor ETF attracted more than $430 million in inflows over three trading sessions, on track for its largest weekly intake since early September. More aggressive positioning is evident in the triple-leveraged Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF, which recorded its biggest-ever weekly inflow of roughly $3.8 billion despite falling nearly 21% this week. Baird Strategas chief ETF strategist Todd Sohn noted that the accelerating pullback has not dampened investor appetite for leveraged exposure to the sector.
