Jayendra Jog, co-founder of Sei Labs, emphasized the potential of stablecoins as a leading blockchain application at the "Build and Scale in 2026" forum in Hong Kong. He argued that stablecoin yield models offer a more promising revenue stream than traditional transaction fees. Despite the rise of dedicated stablecoin chains, Jog expressed skepticism about their ability to drive large-scale adoption, citing limited differentiated advantages.
Jog also highlighted Sei Network's advancements, noting it as the lowest-cost EVM-compatible stablecoin transfer chain, with an average cost of $0.0005 for 200 transfers. The upcoming Sei Giga aims to enhance performance with a throughput of 200,000 TPS and a final confirmation time of 400 milliseconds, supporting stablecoin payments and derivatives trading.
