Santa Clara County, California, has initiated legal action against Meta, alleging the company knowingly facilitated and profited from billions of fraudulent advertisements on its platforms, Facebook and Instagram. The lawsuit claims these ads have misled seniors and families, with Meta allegedly tracking these deceptive promotions. County Counsel Tony LoPresti highlighted that Meta reportedly earns around $7 billion annually from such advertisements.
