U.S. prosecutors are seeking the maximum statutory sentence of five years for Samourai Wallet founders Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill. The pair are accused of facilitating money laundering for dark web criminals through their coin mixing service, allegedly profiting approximately $6.3 million. Between 2015 and 2024, at least $237 million in illicit funds were reportedly laundered via Samourai, with sources linked to dark web markets like Silk Road and Hydra, as well as sanctioned countries. Rodriguez and Hill pleaded guilty in July, with sentencing hearings scheduled for this week.
