Russian entrepreneur Roman Novak and his wife Anna were kidnapped and murdered in the United Arab Emirates, according to reports. Novak, previously convicted of defrauding investors through cryptocurrency schemes, had relocated to Dubai and launched the app Fintopio, raising significant funds from new investors.
In early October, the couple traveled to Hatta for an investor conference but vanished after changing vehicles. Authorities suspect they were lured to a villa under false pretenses, where a kidnapping and ransom attempt unfolded. The kidnappers sought access to Novak's cryptocurrency holdings but failed, resulting in the couple's murder. Investigations by Russian and UAE authorities are ongoing.
