Hong Kong police have reported a significant cryptocurrency romance scam, where a 39-year-old woman was defrauded of over HK$5.5 million. The victim was lured by a suspect posing as an employee of a new energy company to invest in cryptocurrency through a fake platform. Over two months, she transferred funds to multiple unknown FPS accounts before the suspect disappeared. Official police data reveals that in the past week alone, there have been 15 similar romance scam cases, with total losses nearing HK$10 million.
