Revolut has received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a national bank charter, marking a key step in its U.S. expansion. The UK fintech said it plans to launch full banking services in the first half of 2027.
Revolut U.S. CEO Cetin Duransoy said the company still needs approval from the FDIC and the Federal Reserve before the bank can open. The new bank will be based in Stamford, Connecticut, with about $95 million in capital, an initial staff of around 160, and products including checking accounts, installment loans, credit cards, foreign exchange services, and stablecoins. Revolut currently has 80 million customers globally and recently secured a banking license in France and banking authorization in the UK.
