Polish Olympic Committee president Radosław Piesiewicz has been arrested as prosecutors investigate whether he accepted financial benefits tied to crypto exchange Zondacrypto. Prosecutors have not announced formal charges, but said a luxury watch will be examined as part of the case. Piesiewicz denied receiving gifts and said the watch was purchased with his own cash, with Przemysław Kral only helping arrange the transaction. Poland’s justice minister and prosecutor general Waldemar Żurek confirmed the arrest and said more details will be released after questioning. Media investigations by Wirtualna Polska and TVN24 alleged Zondacrypto CEO Przemysław Kral gave Piesiewicz a Patek Philippe watch worth about €40,000 and other gifts in exchange for help with the exchange’s competition-regulation issues in Poland. The case adds to broader scrutiny of Zondacrypto, which became the Polish Olympic Committee’s main sponsor last October under a 2026-2028 agreement. Prosecutors previously said the exchange may have lost access to cold wallets holding around 4,500 BTC, with estimated user losses of at least 350 million zloty. Authorities had received more than 3,600 complaints by June and froze over 100 million zloty for potential compensation.
