Pi Network is gearing up for a significant protocol upgrade and its participation in the upcoming Consensus 2026 conference. The network's mandatory protocol 22 upgrade, set for completion by April 27, aims to enhance network stability and enable full smart contract functionality for its 18 million users. This follows a series of upgrades, including the recent migration to version 20.2, which introduced smart contract capabilities. In addition to technical advancements, Pi Network will be a partner at the Consensus 2026 conference in Miami, where co-founders Chengdiao Fan and Nicolas Kokkalis will discuss topics such as AI-era business models and blockchain infrastructure. Despite these developments, Pi Network's native token, PI, has struggled to gain traction, currently trading at $0.17, down 10% over the past month and significantly below its all-time high.
