Paxos, a leading crypto payment infrastructure firm, has acquired New York-based DeFi wallet startup Fordefi for over $100 million. The acquisition, announced on November 25, aims to enhance Paxos' DeFi wallet solutions in response to increasing client demand. Fordefi, which caters to around 300 clients and employs about 40 people, will continue to operate independently in the short term, with plans for technology integration into Paxos' infrastructure.
This acquisition marks Paxos' second major purchase in the past year, following its acquisition of Finnish stablecoin issuer Membrane Finance. The move aligns with Paxos' strategy to expand its offerings and comply with evolving crypto regulations.
