France's national meteorological service, Météo France, has filed a criminal complaint following suspected tampering with a weather sensor at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The anomalies, occurring on April 6 and April 15, coincided with payouts totaling approximately $34,000 on the prediction market platform Polymarket. Meteorologist Paul Marquis suggested that a heat device, possibly a hair dryer, was used to manipulate the sensor readings. The incidents involved sudden temperature spikes that were not recorded by nearby stations, leading to suspicions of physical interference. Polymarket, which uses the sensor data to resolve bets on Paris's daily maximum temperature, has since switched its data source to Paris-Le Bourget Airport. The platform, although banned in France, remains accessible to some users. The investigation is ongoing, with no arrests made yet.
