Paraguay's National Secretariat for the Fight Against Drug Trafficking (SENAD) held a seminar in Asunción to enhance law enforcement's ability to combat criminal organizations using cryptocurrencies. The event, in collaboration with the American Bar Association and the Higher Institute of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, focused on disrupting financial networks linked to crime and terrorism, particularly in the tri-border region.
General Mirko Sokol of the Bolivian National Police highlighted the shift to digital transactions, citing the case of Uruguayan drug lord Sebastián Marset, who used cryptocurrencies instead of cash. Additionally, Paraguay's National Directorate of Taxation has mandated cryptocurrency exchanges to report detailed transaction data, including wallet addresses and transaction hashes, under Resolution No. 47/26.
