Pakistan Police have dismantled a $60 million cryptocurrency investment scam, arresting 34 individuals in Karachi on December 27. The suspects allegedly used social media to entice victims into fraudulent crypto and forex schemes, promising substantial returns. They created fake platforms with fabricated profit data and demanded additional funds as bogus fees before severing contact with victims.
Authorities seized 37 computers, 40 mobile phones, 10,000 SIM cards, and six illegal gateways during the operation. The investigation, which spans multiple countries, revealed that the group transferred funds to overseas accounts and converted them into cryptocurrency for cross-border transactions. Currently, 22 suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
