The Osmosis community has initiated a proposal to eliminate OSMO inflation issuance by halting the minting of new tokens for staking rewards and community pool allocations. Under the plan, staking rewards would be funded entirely through protocol revenue, marking a significant shift in the network's tokenomics model.
The proposal also suspends the daily vesting release of developer tokens, with approximately 51.9 million remaining tokens held in the module account pending future governance approval for any distribution. Scheduled for on-chain submission on October 20, the measure is currently in the forum discussion stage and would take effect from the next daily epoch if approved.
