The New Gold Protocol (NGP), a staking platform on the BNB blockchain, was hacked just six hours after its launch on September 18, 2025, resulting in a $1.9 million loss. The attacker exploited design flaws and pricing system vulnerabilities, using flash loans to bypass token limits. The NGP token's price dropped by 88% following the exploit.
Security firm Hacken confirmed the attack was premeditated, with the hacker manipulating the token price through a DEX liquidity pool. The stolen funds were laundered through Tornado Cash, complicating recovery efforts. The NGP team has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
