Morgan Stanley has announced the removal of restrictions on cryptocurrency investments for its wealth management clients, effective October 15th. The bank will now allow all clients, including those with retirement accounts, to invest in cryptocurrency funds. Previously, this option was restricted to clients with a higher risk tolerance and at least $1.5 million in assets. The firm will implement automated monitoring to prevent excessive concentration in cryptocurrencies, a volatile asset class. Currently, financial advisors can recommend Bitcoin funds from BlackRock and Fidelity, with potential expansion to other cryptocurrencies under consideration. Clients may also request investments in any listed cryptocurrency exchange-traded product.
