Microsoft has announced a revised partnership with OpenAI, ending its revenue sharing payments while maintaining its role as OpenAI's primary cloud partner. Under the new terms, OpenAI can deploy its products on any cloud service, although they will continue to launch first on Azure unless Microsoft opts out. Microsoft retains a non-exclusive license to OpenAI's intellectual property until 2032, and OpenAI will continue its revenue sharing with Microsoft until 2030, subject to a cap. Microsoft remains a significant shareholder in OpenAI.
