MicroBit, HashKey, and early industry pioneers have donated a statue of Satoshi Nakamoto to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The donation, made on April 20, aims to express gratitude for Hong Kong's supportive regulatory environment and bolster its reputation as the "Capital of Web3." The statue, designed by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, is crafted from 304 stainless steel and weathering steel, and features a meditating figure with a laptop, symbolizing Nakamoto's anonymity and the decentralized ethos of the crypto community.
The statue, which has previously been installed in Lugano and Tokyo, measures approximately one cubic meter. Its base is inscribed with "To Hong Kong — In Math We Trust" and details of the donation. Ownership of the statue will be transferred to the Hong Kong Government, further cementing the city's role in the global blockchain landscape.
