Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet announced at its Tokyo shareholder meeting that it currently holds 20,000 BTC and plans to acquire a total of 210,000 BTC by 2027. This acquisition would represent approximately 1% of Bitcoin's total supply. The company intends to finance this purchase through the issuance of preferred shares. Metaplanet's president, Simon Gerovich, highlighted Japan's low interest rates as a key advantage for securing low-cost financing.
